The Dreaming Core of the Forest

In this region dwells a Dark Young of Shub-Niggurath, its mind lost in strange dreams. Rooted in the soil like a malignant growth, its vast body remains still while its thoughts seep downward, burning themselves into earth and stone, defiling the ground with an otherworldly stain. Left undisturbed, this corruption will spread until the region itself becomes uninhabitable to any being of our world. We must make certain not to touch it!

Father Melchor believes the creature can be appeased while it sleeps. The ritual censer he has prepared contains a sacrifice meant not to awaken the Dark Young, but to send its thoughts elsewhere. The offering must be brought close and cast toward the creature without drawing its attention.

Every breath upon the soil is thunder in its ears. We must halt the spread without waking the creature; any noise will rouse it and doom the mission.
